Ehud Barak, former prime minister of Israel and author of a new autobiography, will speak at Temple Beth El in Boca Raton on May 31.
His book, “My Country, My Life: Fighting for Israel, Searching for Peace,” explores Israel’s past 70 years from his perspective as a highly decorated soldier and former defense minister, who also served as Army Chief of Staff and commander of Israel’s Special Forces.
Barak’s career has been filled with the drama, stress and pride that has dominated the story of Israel since its inception in 1948. In 1972 alone, he led a raid on a hijacked Sabena airliner in Tel Aviv, freeing all the hostages, and later that year, led a Beirut raid to kill terrorists who murdered Israeli athletes during the Munich Olympics.
The talk begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $54 per person and include a copy of the book. Call 561-391-8900 for more information.
