A favorite at Senior Circle, FAU professor Dr. David Dalin will discuss the fascinating saga of Jewish gangsters in America. Providing historical anecdotes and analysis, he will discuss the lives, crimes and Jewish identities of Meyer Lansky, Arnold Rothstein, and other famous (and infamous) American Jewish mobsters. In recounting the story of Meyer Lansky, the undisputed leader of organized crime in America, Dalin will discuss how Lansky established a gambler's paradise in Cuba, his devotion to Zionism and his much-publicized attempt to settle in Israel during the early 1970’s. Dalin will also discuss the life of Arnold Rothstein, the son of a respected Orthodox Jewish businessman and philanthropist best known for allegedly "fixing" the 1919 World Series between the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds, the infamous "Black Sox" scandal.
No Fee / No RSVP .
