The 10th grade confirmation class meets every Tuesday night at the Beck Family Campus from September – January and the Schaefer Family Campus from February – May from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
Students in the Confirmation Class explore contemporary and relevant issues through the lens of the Ten Commandments and by tracing the roots of their own family history. The program culminates with a Shavuot Confirmation Service which students create as their commitment to the covenant with the Jewish people. This highly personal service is written by members of the class in consultation with the Rabbis, Cantor and Temple Senior staff.
A weekend Confirmation Retreat and Shabbat or festival service attendance is a requirement for the celebration of Confirmation. This enhances the students’ connection with their Judaism and helps cement the bonds with each other.
Check the Religious School calendar for retreat dates and registration information, as well as other Youth Engagement opportunities.
The feeling of community, as well as respect for self and others as people and Jews, are integral parts of our Religious School objectives. The Confirmation Class retreat weekend will be scheduled with these objectives specifically in mind.
Confirmation students are expected to attend a minimum of ten Shabbat or Festival services which may be at any synagogue. This attendance should be recorded in the weekly sign in sheets outside the sanctuary.
All Confirmation students are welcome to join their friends for a community dinner that begins at 6:30 pm just before classes!
