Confirmation is a religious experience during which 10th grade students affirm their commitment to Judaism as their cultural and religious identity. The vehicle for communicating the knowledge and feelings about being Jewish is the Shavuot Confirmation Service which students create as their commitment to the covenant with the Jewish people. A Confirmation Retreat is also held so students may demonstrate their respect for self and others.
A weekend Confirmation Retreat and Shabbat or festival service attendance is a requirement for the celebration of Confirmation. This enhances the students’ connection with their Judaism and helps cement the bonds with each other.
